Thomas place. The hunter was armed only with a heavy C olt's six-shooter, but the cougar in the tree was an e a s y prey to his marksmanship. Four shots were fired, two o f which pierced the anim al's heart. The cougar, which was a male, measured seven feet in length, and weighed 125 lbs. It had been seven yesrs since one o f these animals had been killed in the vicinity o f Jordan, the last having been ahot hy T. H. * Thomas in 1905. Mr. Brolherton took the cougar to A l bany Friday to claim the bounty. He later sold the skin to H. J. Mutschler. Our prominent erstwhile citizen, George Quecner, who in now hutching on Thomus Creek, claims that the cou g a r was treed hy his Jack rabbit dogs.
