The pupils in the Stayton High School are carried through the tenth grade. This embraces Latin, Algebra, Business Forms and Book-keeping, Rhetoric, European History, Etc. There are two school literary societies in good working condition. Last year the graduating class published a neat annual, “The Cardinal.” A number of out-of-town pupils are attending the High School, securing higher branches than in «unie country schools. There are rich mines in the San- tiam region, east of Stayton, and trih utary to this city.
