Mattoon of the E I Albany College was a visitor at the S. J. Bean home last week for several days. Professor Mattoon will be re membered in Vale by his lecture on astronomy at the Library rooms two years ago. I. C. Weant was over from his home in Long Valley this week and visited at the R. E. Weant home. Mrs. T. M. Lowe was over from Owyhee for the Parent-Teacher meet ing Tuesday evening. Mrs. Lowe is state vice president and gave a very interesting talk at the meeting in Vale. Mr. and Mrs. Gonser of Portland arrived Friday evening to make their home for the winter with their daugh ter Mrs. H. G. Means, Mr. and Mrs. Meant have recently located here. District Superintendent Ira Aldrich and wife and daughter will be In Vale Monday evening to hold quarter ly conference at the M. E. Church. They are making this territory in their car and have visited most of the churches on the trip. Misses Teresa Cox and Jean Conk tin of the teachers force are I pend ing the week end at their homes in and near Ontario. .Miss lima Hope left Saturday evening for Washougal Washington where she will teach this year. Miss Ellen Hill of the Vale teach ers will spend the week end at her home in Payette. H. J. Ward and wife of Nyssa were in Vale this week for a brief j visit. Crouter of Union Oregon I is attending to business in this part of the state, and has been in Vale several days. Bullock of Ironside were among the out of town business visitors regist ivd at the Arlington this week. Ray Cole was among those from Brogan in Vale this week. He reg istcred at the Dexel. Frank Jones was down from the ranch at Westfall this week. Milt Davis of Drewsey was re newing acquaintances with Vale bus inessmen this week. Dave Lawrence of Ironside was In Vale the first of the week enroute home. John Moore was up from Ontario Sunday and stopped at the Drexel while in town. Ora Hill and wife were in from the White Horse ranch the first of the week shopping and attending to business matters. A. F. Masterson, Fred Currey and E. L. Sizemore came down from Jun tura Monday. All three are jurymen for this term of court. L. R. Duncan of Jordan Valley was in Vale this week in connection with court matters. J. A. Wroten of Jordan Valley, T. B. Hayes, Luciano Uria and John Acarregui were among Jordan Val .ey people in attendance at the Cole trial this week. Jeff Froman well known Harpei rancher was in Vale a few days this week. R. H. Lockett of Brogan stopped in Vale the first of the week while enroute to his home from outside points. 0. E. Littlefield of Skullspi ings has been in Vale the past week on business matters. Oscar Presley of Westfall was down for a few days this week. Ernest Reynolds and Tom Johnson were among those registered from Jordan Valley at the Arlington this week. S. Zandstra who was for some time located at Crowley was in town this week on business. Earl Stream of Brogan was a busi ness visitor in Vale this week. Miss Margaret Thompson has re turned from a visit to friends at Bro gan and entered school last week. A. D. McCann was down from the ' ranch above Brogan this week. W. B. Boyer made a business trip to i Vale from his Ontario store on Wed nesday. D. D. Josslyn of Jordan Valley was in Vale the latter part of the week attending the Cole trial. Mrs. J. D. House who has been visiting her sister at Mulvain Kan sas for two months returned to her home near Jamieson Wednesday even ing. To Publish Vale's Story -While in Vale a few days ago to lecture before j members of the Parent-Teacher As- sociation film committee, Miss Pinney I of the Boise library told members of the committee she had prepared and j sent a story of the better films movement in Vale, to the Photo Play magazine, and they had promised its publication in a short time. New Foreman Comes Gus Lynell of Bishop California arrived the first of the week to take the formanship I of the Enterprise shop, Mr. Lynell has been in the newspaper work for many years learning the trade in Chi cago where he served for eleven years as foreman on one of the biggest papers of the states, the Chicago Tri bune. Up until a year ago he publish ed a paper in Alaska where he became acquainted with Birnie Stone former owner of the Malheur Enterprise and Charles Herron also a former Valeite. Mr. Lynell has already become an en thusiastic booster for Vale and Mal heur county and is at work producing the high grade printing work demand ed by the people of the county.
