A. Derrick and Mrs. Hick Lockett of this place, at her home In Ontario that morning. The news came as a great shock to her many friends here but the end was fully expected by most of her near relatives and they were at her bedside when she passed away. The remaining ones have the sympathy of the entire community here in their hour of sadness. Mrs. Isaac Wells and Mrs John Bartch left for a few days shopping at Boise on Saturday's train. We are pleased to report that W. M. Goodrich, who has been under the doctor's care a few days at Vale is doing nicely and he expects to soor be around again as well as ever. Malcolm Corrigal was in town Sunday and says that he expects to have about thirty thousand sheep ready for shearing some where about the 18th of this month. Mr. Corrigal was here to purchase supplies for one of his camps. The rain of the past week is delay ing orchard work somewhat but it is welcomed as the farmers out side of the project and the sheep and stock men depend on moisture coming from this source for their grain and the grass. Dick T. Breedlove, a fruit grower from the Brogan country was in town Monday. Mr. Breedlove, always a booster, is more so than ever just now as he Bays that prospects were, never better in any section of the country than they are here at the present time. Mr. Breedlove came here from Palisade, Colorado, where he saw land advance from $400.00 an acre to $4,500.00 but he said that he hoped that this section of the country will not develop as fast as that country did. What he wants to see is just a steady growth as he says that the price that land is now selling for in the Palisade country is really to much as one has too much ot an investment St they own any - amount of land at all. He thinks that as soon as the fruit shipments start from here this Fall that there will be some big things doing in the valley. Mr. J. A. Hoskins has lust return ed from an eastern trip and says that he saw nothing along the line that can compare with our section of the country. Rev. Bush of Nvssa conducted ser vices in the school house here Sunday and it is his intention to come from now on once each month. He will be here again on May 26th Art Brooke of Brogan was in town early this week on business and re ports every thing going all O.K. in his town. Mr. Brooke used to make his home here being employed by the Willow River Land & Irrigation Co. of this place. tW. J. Scott has been hauling out bridee lumber to his ranch the past week. Monte B. Gwinn. a prominent bus iness man of Boise and well known sheep man of this locality, waB in town Saturday on his way to Brogan where he is having a few bands of sheep sheared. He says that, the new plant is strictly up to the minute and that the way they have of handling the sheep during the shearing is a new idea and a good one as by the old method there was aways a number of sheep crippled each season and that as it is now the danger to the sheep In this respect is reduced to practical ly nothing. The Willow River Land & Irriga tion Co., is planting fifty acres of po tatoes as well as an additional two hundred acres of oats. Vern Click attended a dance at Bro gan last Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Hamstreet of the Brogan country were in our town shopping., last Saturday. The R. R. Co. is having some "derails" installed in the local yards here. One is put in right near the depot and the other one at the west end of the switch. The work is in the hands of their local man, Dell and consequently will be well done.
