Why did Mr. Hearst publish these articles if he did uot know they wore true. Because t these men H ood pat for the Mexican government they have been criticised by nearly neualy every newspaper in America. Now com es this latest charge, if proven, would amtnount to treason ! Possibily Mr. Hearst did not realue the seriousness of the charge or was il*done for money? One thing we do know, front reading editorials in the varfous pipers is that Mr. Hearst is the target for attaek from all ;mrts of the country. Mr. Hearst has killed himself as fa; as his influence is concerned. It is reported Mr. Hearst has demanded an inves- tiguticn of these charges Mr. Hearst had better save his breath for the investigation will only react against him. these d-cuineuU were genuine or Another Mind Gone Wrong. A few months ogo the world was shocked by tho dastardly crime of the two Chicago youths, Leopold and I.eob, who mur dered a boy because they wanted to fiud out how a qerson acted, when he was dying. Through the iuflunce ol Clarence Darrow,. one of the greatest? criminal lawyers to be found, they were given life I t was a case of bright minds going to seed from lack of. proper training. A few days ago in the city of Los Angeles, William Edward ; Hickman murdered Marion Parker, daughter of oue of th* oth- cers of the aame bank in which young Hickman was employed. The m otive was revenge. Soma time before this, Hickman was convicted of forgery but was paroled at the request of all the offi cers except Parker, who held out fur conviction. Ths parole, in this case was simply an invitation to continue a life of crim e’ which culminated in the brutal murder of Marion Parker and' the delivery of her mutilated body to her father on the payment of a paltry sum of money. There is too much leiniency practiced by the courts, which, in a way, is responsible for the wave of crime that is sweeping the country. It is time th» blinds were removed from the Goddess of Justice so that she may see the re. suits of some of this parole practice that is being followed by the courts at the present time. «s » an ., thepce S. 36 derrees E. 12.17 A studenthodv meeting was hsld chains; thenee South 18.72 chains: , . 1 „ thence S. 56 degrees .03 minutes i ^ t Thursday.
