Excelsiors The Excelsior's meeting last week was devoted to choosing ihe speakers for the series of three debates against the Non pareils,, which is to be held next month. Last year, as freshly recalled, the Excel siors won the first two of the series of these debates and cancelled the third one because of the consideration that two out of three would be the winner. This year the prospect of success is somewhat clouded since the Nonpareils have good material for (die coming debates and per haps they are confident of wanning back the honors of victory. That is the4 way, Nonpareils, work hard so the Excelsiors will work, too, so as to make it a little interesting with you anyway. Bamona. The mep.bers of the Ramona Society held their regular meeting last Friday evening, Jan. 15, 1$09. The room was called to order by President Johnson, and roil was called, a few members being absent. Old and new business yas brought before the house. We then pro ceeded with the following program: Opening. Addreg., ftlla McCully; Cur jent Events, Annie Johnson; Song, Louise Moss; Reading, Nellie Boswell; Riddles, Dora Goodman; Pen picture, Emily Moss; Song, Millie Freelander and Viola Brown; Closing Address, Jennie Luke. We then played a game which was called consequence, and it caused much merriment among the players when the papers were read. After i he game the meeting adjourned. CUTTING TABLE CLIPPINGS. According to prediction the manufac ture of garments under the order 'of an organized system has proven very satis factory in every way. The apprentices have obtained a clear understanding of what is wanted and how to obtain re sults quickly and with fair success. On Thursday, Jan. 21st, 1909, the de tail of apprentices in the Tailor Shop visited the state legislature in order to take notes on the organization of a law making body; also note their impres sions of the law-makers in session. We hope that each boy was benefitted by this experience and hope that at some time in the future he will be able to represent his people's interest in a like manner by being a member of the legislature.
