A short program had ''.been arranged for the occasion. The follow ing selections were well rendered: Open ing address by the President; Vocal Duet, Viola herris and Lela Wilson; Current Events, Fred Lewis;. Violin Solo, Philip Moss; Jokes, Jimmie Jones; Vocal Solo, Vernie Cliff e; Piano Solo, Dollie Case. - Reliance Thursday evening, January 14th, the Reliance Literary Society met in their room in the Academic Building and listened to- the program prepared by the program committee. Mrs. Camp bell was present and gave the boys some encouraging remarks as to the possibili ties of the Reliance Literary Society. Although it was not a business meeting the color committee reported bringing the colors to the meeting and distribut ed them among the members. T. M. C. A. . The Y. M. C. A. opened their meeting Wednesday evening with the usual sing ing and prayer. All were delighted to have Mr. Swartz present, who kindly consented to speak at the request of Mr. Williams. He gave some valuable thoughts on the building of character. The attend ance was larger than at any other meet 'ing this season, which shows that the association can build up if a speaker can be had at every meeting to explain in an understanding manner the great importance of the Y. M. C. A. work. y. w. c. a. The members of the Y. W. C. A. held their regular meeting last Wednesday evening, Jan. 13, 1909. . The meeting was opened by the hymn, UI will Sing the Wondrous Story. V Mrs. Chaleraft men ieaa in prayer, koh was called, a few members beicg absent. On account of the leader's absence we had a song service. Both Mrs. Chaleraft and Miss Royer spoke a few encourag ing words. We then had a season of prayer after which we sang our cloying song, "Blest be the Tie that Binds,'', le peated our watch word and adjourned.
