ly VOL. 11 NOVEMBER 13, 1908. , NO. 21 Language Less an. MY VACATION. On July 18, . 15)08, I went down to Taholah with Rex Ward looking for a job. We started on our journey Sunday morning about 8:30 and when we reached Strawberry Point we stopped and asked for lunch, where there were three families camping on the beach making. a canoe. We got our lunch there in a minute. After we ate our lunch we started again, it was nearly noon, I suppose, so we had to walk fast, trying to make Queets in one (lay. We reached Hoh River somewhere about one or. two o'clock, we whistled signals to cross the river, and soon one fellow came and took us across, it .was Frank Harlow, a Queets Indian. There Hex saw his folks, they wanted us to stop over night, so we did, and had our sup per there. , !So the' next niorning we started again with Frank Hallow who wTas bring ing Rex's folks to Hob on horse back We rode one horse, two of us. We mad Queets in three hours, and there we had our dinner at Dr. Walter's. It was about noon. After dinner the mantok us across the river and we , thanked him extremely. We started again for. Taholah. On . the way we could not get through the . tunnel, because it was high tide, so we climbed ud the hill for about one or two miles. At last we reached Taholah. We made one day from Hoh to Taholah, and had a nice journey along the beach. When we got there we found out that there were not much people, all having gone to different places to work, so we went to Geo. Sickman's and stayed there, over night. And the next morning, the 20th, we went down to Moclips for some business. We stayed there that day an.d night. On the 21st, we went back to Toholah again, and there we stayed with Albert Smith. And the 22nd we worked sawing Wood for him and doing -some other little work. We did not stay there all the time, but traveled to different places. On the 26st of July we went to Gray's Harbor to see the haibor. We left Mo clips at 2:50 P. M. for, Fh quiam. and arrived so.netime between 3 or 4 o'clock P. M.; the fare is 85 cents one wray. There we had a vvalk to see the harbor. The harbor is a wondeiful place to stay. We (Continued on P.-ge 8)
