THE GHEMAWA AMERICAN Saturday, the 15th inst., the Chema wa first basketball team will play the OAC team at Chemawa and the second team will play the Mt. Angel team at Mt. Angel, ' 1 : ' '' ' : The Tailors' basketball team will be ready to play the Harnessmakers on the seventeenth of this month. Chemawa Junior Y. M, C, A. team .de feated .the. tailors-by a; score of lo to 12 last Tuesday evening. Chemawa Y. M. C, A. second team de feated the All-Star team of Chemawa lastTuesday evening. The score was 18 to :i2. :'t Wm. Watkins is out limbering up his whip every day.- William says he will be the second team twirler this year, The boys are training out for the five- mile relay race, They will soon begin to train. .. - LOCALS We are having some -bright, sunny spring weather. Miss Woods is at present acting as assistant laundress. Mr. Moran came to Chemawa last Sat urday and is now on duty as engineer, Sarah Peirce and Lizzie Frazier are now attending Willamette University. Mr. Herbert Campbell sent his mother a handsome Indian basket from Spokane. Miss Skipton, Miss Irene Campbell and the young ladies from the office helped to decorate for the wedding. - Mr. Campbell, who has just returned from Montana is suffering with a severe cold contracted on the way. Philip A. Moss, Joseph Moss, Norval Morais, Joseph ' Keeler, Louise Moss, Emilv Moss, Delora Keeler. Winnie Keeler, Mary LaRose and Margaret Morais arrived last Tuesday morning from Montana. Mrs. Fish, wife of the proprietor of the Willamette Hotel of Salem, and a friend from Chicago, were visitors at the school this week. They were very much pleased with the work done by our boys and girls. DRESSMAKERS' PARTY The dressmakers gave a party last Friday evening in the auditorium Which was enjoyed by all who attended. We had a short program which was as fol lows: Opening Adress - - - , . M John. Vocal Duett - M. Decker, A, Madison, Recitation - - - Miss K. Brown, Guitar Duet Lane, E. Napoleon, Recitation - - - - - M. Howard, Selection - - - String Instrument Club, Quartette - - .- L. Murry, V, Berber, M. Lowrv. A. Cameron, After the program was rendered games were played and refreshments served. The party was one of the best ever given here and our guests report having had a good time. - Th dressmakers have thirty six more dresses to make for the six new girls. Miss Skipton is pleased with the 4wo new girls Mr. Campbell brought from Montana for her department. Louise Dionne did her first work on the sewing machine last week and Miss Skipton is very proud of her. Miss Skipton's detail - commenced an order for four hundred shaker-flannel nightgowns yesterday, morning.
