E liot, O re- ! gon’s coach, has w ritten to the library, requesting th a t all m aterial on the in- ' come tax be seg reg ated and placed in one alcove w here it can be easily found and readily assim ilated by the college men. He lias received a reply from the librarian s ta tin g th a t his req u est has been complied w ith. S tu d e n ts should make them selves know n to M iss R ock well at the reference desk. She will show them every possible courtesy. In order to keep re su lts in uniform shape, it has been ruled th a t each can didate, in p re p a rin g for the try o u t, use the card index system . I t is not necessary to buy a filing case, sim ply cards, four inches by six inches in size and to keep the re su lts of re ad in g on them in legible and intelligible form . Each card should show clearly and fully the source of the ex cerp t which it bears. All q u o ta tio n s should be in dicated, and p a ra p h ra se s or original matter placed in b rack ets to id en ti fy it. In this way, all the m aterial g a th e r ed for the try o u ts will be available by use for the team s w hen th ey are se lected. Indications point to w ard a large number of men in the try o u t. T he committee hopes for forty, as ag ain st sixteen last year. Dalzell, ’10, who organized it here tw o years ago hriday, D ecem ber 4. is the date for the local concert of the O regon glee and m andolin clubs. T he clubs will appear at Eugene T h ea te r under the direction of Prof. Irving M ackay Glen and the m anagem ent of M erle R L hessm an. I here will be no reg u lar sketch this year but the am using features will be scattered throughout the entire p ro grain. Practise is being held every evening. I lie club will, according to a available inform ation, com pare most favorably with the clubs of previous years. M anager Chessm an has had ad v e r tising m atter printed for the Inland E m pire tour and will see to d istrib u t ing it at once. At present he is chief ly concerned with o b tain in g a good audience for the local concert. Blaus are under consideration for the publication of an E n g in e e rs’ M agazine, sem i-annual or q u arterly , to be edited by the students of the en g i neering departm ents or the m em bers of the club. M em bership in the club is limited to m em bers of the three u p per classes in the engineering d e p a rt ment but freshm en and stu d en ts in other departm ents are alw ays welcome to attend m eetings.
