Taking Control of your Career - with the HOC Registry Bobbie Sotin, of North Bend and Mary Hubert- Godwin of Portland, serve as our representatives to the Homecare Commission's Registry Committee. They have provided input on how to design the computer system to be user friendly for homecare workers and consumer employers. And now, after years of work, it's really happening. Looking for additional work? In between clients? Need respite? The Registry, an internet database, is changing the way we meet these needs and imposes some requirements on us to keep it efficient. The Registry will be the only way to get referrals for new work. Training is offered (on paid time) to help us learn how to use the Registry., YouTl be notified on when and where training is being held. We strongly encourage you to attend a training to learn how it works. Once you are on the Registry, you will be required to update your information at least once every 60 days, or you will be "deactivated" and will not be referred out for new job interviews. You can reactivate simply by going into the Registry and updating your information. If you have any questions about the Registry, you can go to www.or-hcc.org or call toll free 877-867-0077. In Salem, call 503-378-3957 and ask for Wendy. The following counties are online and live: Baker, Clatsop, Crook, Deschutes, Douglas, Grant, Harney, Jefferson, Klamath, Lake, Malheur, Marion, Morrow, Polk, Tillamook, Umatilla, Union, Wallowa and Yamhill. The following counties are scheduled to roll out between January and May of 2008: Washington, Clackamas, Linn, Benton, Lincoln, Lane, Gilliam, Hood, Sherman, Wasco, Wheeler, Jackson, Josephine, Coos, Curry and Columbia. Thanks to Bobbie and Mary for their contributions as well as the Homecare Commission and all of the partners who worked to make this happen. It took a long time to develop, but the thoughtful design and "user friendliness" of this system makes it worthwhile. SEIU Homecare Worker Code of Excellence ASK YOURSELF.
