General Council Delegates Homecare Local-$9 earns 49 delegates to General Council. All member^, of the Homecare Council; except the Retiree Rep. are automatic delegates. That means there will be open seats, for Homecare Local delegates, plus alternates who will serve in the event that a delegate is unable to attend. Alternates will be determined based on the next highest numbe'r Of votes. Thisÿeâf/ General Council will convene in Eugene on August 21-23. What is General Council and what is the role of a General Council Delegate? Gênerai Council is a biennial convention of SElUUôcaE503 and is the supreme governing body of our umori. It is composed of members of the Union's > Board of Directors, District and Local representatives. It is the Union's legislative body and is.; where union members consider new or revised union policies, ¡direction, gdais and objectives. It is a forum for Statewide Officer candidates to campaign for office. New General Council delegates will be expected to attend new delegate training if this is your first time. All delegates need to attend Homecare Local caucuses, committee hearings, general, . assembly and participate in planned activities during thè, " three-day convention. These positions require a time commitment. They also provide an opportunity for leadership development and training. Council meetings generally are held at least every three months. Union staff will work with leadership to mentor and support your efforts to carry out your duties.
