Restructure Update, by Joye Willman, President, Homecare Local 99 In 2004 the General Council passed a resolution to explore the need for any restructuring of how SEIU Local 503 is run. A proposal needs to be brought back to the next General Council which will be held in August, 2006. We formed a committee and have been going around the state having town hall type meetings. At these meetings, we tell guests (fellow SEIU mem bers) what our present structure is, get feedback from participants about how the structure works or where it could be improved. We then let them know what the 2003 proposal was and a new proposal that one of the members brought LOCAL 503 SEIU to General Council in 2004. We get feedback for both of these pro posals also. The restructure committee will then assess all of the information we have gathered and hopefully be able to come together and form a proposal about the restructure. We will then go back around the state and share our findings so members will be able to give us opinions on any issues we may need to work on before presenting a final proposal to General Council. You can check out information about the restructure on our web site at www.seiu503.org SEIU Local 503, OPEU PO Box 12159 Salem, OR 97309-0159 Stronger Together ADDRESS SERVICE REQUESTED I would like to thank homecare workers who have come to the first round of town hall meetings, including Bonnie Geier, Milton Freewater, Lee Worcester and Anita Pecoff, Bend, John Cook and Sally Cumberworth, of Grants Pass and Cave Junction, Deb Brown, Roseburg, Rita Sparks, Eugene, and Phyllis Wills, Suzanne Pecore, Steve Shumate, Holly Fries of Portland.
