Health Care in Oregon According to a new report by the State Health Access Data Assistance Center, Oregon has now fallen to 38th of the 50 states when it comes to health insurance for working families. The report found: ■ One in five working-age Oregonians (20.5%) is now without health insurance. ■ More than half of Oregon's uninsured (51.9%) have children in their households. ■ Almost one in four of the uninsured adults (24.5%) was unable to get needed medical care in the past six months SOURCE: Oregon AFL-CIO Kids and seniors - Oregon's most vulnerable suffer while drug and insurance companies get rich. We need to hold politicians in Washington, DC accountable for the decisions that affect the cost of our health coverage and the ability of our clients to get medication. The rising cost of health care/prescription drugs has a huge impact on our clients and our ability to deliver services to them. In the past four years, the number of those without health insurance has grown by nearly four million; now a total of 44 million Americans have no health insurance. The outcome of this election will affect our jobs, our families, and the services we provide to our clients.
