In Our Own Words... Tricia Houck Coos Bay “I can hardly put into words, how important and exciting it was for all of us to come together at the convention .peeping the elderly at home as long as possible is our main job and by organizing together, we can continue to assure this for our clients.” Elyse Scott Woodburn “You should join our union to stand together with us to make important changes like finding respite care more easily. Last month I had surgery and went back to work way too early because there was no one to care for my client. Emergencies happen when you least expect them and our clients can’t be left without care.” Rob Pung Jr. Gresham “The union is something that’s good for everybody-both workers and clients. With the union there is hope that we can change things, like going to meet with our legislators—the more we get together we can build on past victories and get what we deserve.” Debbie Campbell Salem “When we went to the capitol all together, the elected officials really did stop to listen to us, they couldn’t ignore us in our purple shirts all together. As a union we have more power and as a union we are stronger to win improvements in homecare like getting healthcare insurance and training.” Bruce Thouvenel Medford “Don’t wait to join the union! Be part of making these changes happen. The faster we build our union, the faster we will win what homecare workers and our clients deserve. Individually we must beg for help- collectively we can fight for and demand help. If we don t get out there and make it happen chances are things will never change.
