Ihave been a union member for 5 1/2 years, l am currently a shop steward and union activist of an integrated worksite. I want to represent members so everyone can feel heard and have a strong voice. - WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR YOUR DISTRICT? I want to cultivate more union-involvement by members and get everyone involved in the issues that effect all OPEU/ SÍEU members and their families. I would like everyone to be more informed of current issues, and the benefits of being a union member. WHAT IS THE BIGGEST SINGLE ISSUE THE UNION w n . l , FACE DURING YOUR TERM AND HOW OULD YOU PROPOSE TO RESOLVE IT? The current Healthcare Crisis is the issue that needs immediate attention - we need to lower gosts and maintain fully paid family medical coverage for all employees thru strenght of union membership and at the bargaining table. June 10 & 11, 2002 Oregon State University CH2M Hill Alumni Center Corvallis, Oregon SEIU Local 503, OPEU will be able to send 40 delegates, with that number prorated based oh the number of state AFL-CIO members in each SEIU Local 503, OPEU District and the automatic delegates from our statewide officers, CAPE officers and Political Director. This year: ♦ ♦ ♦ i' ♦ ♦ ♦ District 1 is entitled to six delegates District 2 is entitled to eleven delegates District 3 is entitled to six delegates District 4 is entitled to four delegates District 5 is entitled to three delegates District 6 is entitled to two delegates By SEIU Local 503, OPEU’s Constitution and Bylaws, elections are to he held in each District at “the next District meeting” following this publication for AFL-CIO Convention delegates. Alternate delegates will be the candidates getting the next highest number of votes in the order o f votes received. To nominate someone for delegate, and for meeting election date, please contact your current District Director. Election results are to be reported to Headquarters after elections are complete. Tally sheets and ballots should be forwarded to Headquar ters and will be archived for a period of one year. The following members (a total of 8) are awarded automatic delegate seats according to our Bylaws: Executive Director Leslie Frane, President Kathie Best, Vice President Mark Gronso, Secretary- Treasurer Steven Barrett, Immediate Past President Nancy Padilla, CAPE Statewide Chair Rosalie Pedroza, CAPE Statewide Secretary- Treasurer Mike Danielson and SEIU Local 503, OPEU Political Director Rich Peppers.
