O N IO N A F F A I R S lection Scheduled for District Director JoAnn Bowker With Steve Green’s election as OPEU president, his position as District 2 Director became vacant. A new director will be elected by the District 2 Council on October 27. The meeting will be held at OPEU head quarters at 7 p.m. According to District 2 Director Kelly Clemence-Kathriner (District 2 has three directors), a motion will be introduced at the Oct. 27 meeting to adopt the following procedure: electa new director from the newly-elected assistant district directors by a majority of those present at the meeting. Assistant district directors are JoAnn Bowker, Alfred Bushey and Richard Myers. However, Bushey has indicated he will not seek the open seat. Kathriner said that the council consists of one representative from each work area in the district, but that all OPEU members are encouraged to come and will be eligible to vote. Council rules require that five work areas be represented in order to have a quorum. Following is a list of the committees and a brief description of their duties: Strike Fund This committee was established by Union Finance Develop plans for financing union operations, prepare a budget of estimated receipts and expenditures and review the fiscal operation of the union. Employe Benefits Advise the Board on all matters pertaining to member benefits. Government Relations Advise the Board on candidate endorsements, political education and the sponsorship of legislative bills.
