R eflecting th e constant flow of new people into th e region, only o n e-fo u rth of th e w riters h av e given O regon as th e ir b irth place. A good p o rtio n ’ of them are n ativ e tp th e M idwest. Less th an a dozen indicate th a t bo th th eir p aren ts w ere born in this'-’s tatê. I W e at th e S ta te L ib ra ry feel th a t this survey- has been p artic u la rly v a l uable to us, not only for the- b iograph ical i n f o r m a t i o n and photographs w hich are now available for re feren ce here, b u t • also becausp a n u m b er of unknow n publications about Oregon c o m m u n ia s 'h a v e been brought to light. One of our m ost difficult jobs in carrying out the p ro ject has been com piling a list of people w ho W r ite and locating th eir cu rren t addresses.
