16 CHAPTER N E W S SALEM CHAPTER No. 1 Thé affairs of this chapter apparently reached an inflated peak at our meeting held thé second Tuesday in April, at which time the losers of our member ship campaign treated the Chapter to an entertainment of high order. That April meeting was a gala affair what with the necktie cutting antics of Floyd Query, the blackface comedy pf Chet Paulsen and Lowell Shinn, the fine music furnished by a select group df local music lovers, and the copious quantities of ice crêam, cake and cof fee stuffed into the sevénty-five willing mouths of the members present! Since that unforgettable occasion, our members have, gone their various ways with a feeling of well-being and satis faction and have seemingly been swept away from OSEA matters by the really exciting and important things which have been occurring in the European theatre, of war. Just ; to prove that there is still a spark of life left amongst us, we take pride in announcing, to all that there is going to be one "grandiloquent” picnic Albany Planing Mills Mill Work, Sash, Doors, Built-ins Paint, Window Glass | Car Glass 101 E Water St., Albany, Ore. For Quality Foods at Dallas City Park July 15 th, The pic nic will be a pot luck affair, with ice cream and coffee being furnished gra tis to one and all by the; Chapter. This is going to be put on in, a big way through the activities of a special com mittee, and if any one misses out, he will never forgive himself. All Chapters in Salem are expected to turn out in force, and every Chapter in th e State is cor- dially invited to attend and share in the festivities! We are hard to satisfy! We’re not content with our present membership status, and will start another drive in the hear future to reach a goal of not less than three hundred active members. It as expected' that the state organiza tion is going to have an active part in the coming campaign, but whether or no, we all will do our part. The Chapter scribe has been prom- ising some personal items of interest to the members, and about the members. He continues to promise with uncertain hopes that some of you folks will burst forth with voluntary offerings along this line. When you "get something on”- a fellow member that is printable, won’t you send it in to the editor of 'this ^ney^s” article while' it qs still hot? Mail or hand ih your efforts to "O ’Neil the Scribe,” Room 317, State Office Building, but please don’t blame him for everything that appears herein! Reserve the date, Sunday, July 75.
