PAGE 4 - SILETZ, OREGON December i9°»_ SILETZ STUDENTS HONOR VETS On N ovem ber 7th, 1990, the students and faculty of the Siletz School held it's Third Annual Veteran's Day Celebration and Reception in honor of Lincoln County men and women serving in the Armed Forces, present and past. Tony M olina, President of the Vietnam Veteran's of America, Chapter 4 -11, Newport, welcomed the Veterans, guests and student body. Included in the ceremony was a moment of silent observance to the 22 Lincoln County men who lost their lives defending our Country during the Vietnam Conflict. A Vietnam Veterans Memorial is planned to be completed by Memorial Day ■■ ..- ................. ri 992.7Contributiofts are now being accepted at all branches of the Bank Of Newport. The site of the new city park will be right across the street from the Newport Performing Arts Center. Tony also named the eight men arid women ¿now serving active duty in Saudi Arabia- 'from -L in c o ln County: Kammy S tric k le ', Army, Nathan Metcalf, Marine, Sharlene. Fisher and husband, Branch of Service unknown, Tracy Molina, Navy, Andrew Chase, Army, Jamesb-iillegas, Navy, and Clint Muschamp, Navy, who left to join the air craft carrier USS Independance, the 6th of November. Clint is a 1988-89 graduate of Toledo High School who placed in the top 10 in the State-wide* Wrestling Championships. He is the son of Jack and Shirley Muschamp and grandson of Gladys and George Muschamp. Of the local Vets attending, several spoke a few words about their military experiences and each encouraged the students in their own way to ‘take positive directions in their future. .T he pride in their community , school andstudents came through to the students and the audience. After the ceremony the, 7th Grade Health Class escorted the proud Vets, to the reception, where patriotic decorations, flowers, a cake of the American Flag, and coffee was served. We would like to congratulate the students of Siletz School for a jo b w e ll done and cornmend them on their patriotism. Because of a mixup after last year's elections, the signature cards on file 'w e re destroyed. In order to comply with the Tribal Election Ordinance which allows the use of signature cards in the election process, interested tribal members muât submit new signature cards. Signature cards may be requested orally or in writing from the Election Board, in completing the Signature Card the signature on the Signature Card should be the same as the name is listed on the tribal roll. If a name change occurs, for any reason (i.e., marriage, divorce, legal name change), a new signature card must be submitted. Signature cards are to be verified for accuracy of signature in one of the following methods: 1) V e rifica tio n o f signature by com parison of picture identification shown at the time of signing in from of the Election Board or Area Office staff; 2) Verification of signature by signing in from of an notary public; or 3) Verification o f signature by comparison of signature in the Enrollment Department.
