Whether you agree or disagree with the new legislation is a matter of choice and personal belief that we each have the right to exercise. One thing is certain, the basis of our timber economy will change and the lives of those who make their living as part of that economy. Oregon was built by the timber .industry and those hard-worlfíng souls who risked life and limb in the forests. Even our State Capitol has the Woodsman standing proudly with his axe gleaming gold in the sun. We can not deny the status our timber men have as part of Oregon history and we can not turn our back on the dignity of their labor.
