ZZ SILETZ, OREGON July 1990 - PAGE 13 SILETZ TRIBAL HEAD START GRADUATES TWENTY By: Denise Wilson On June 7, 1990, over 100 family members and friends gathered at the Siletz Tribal Community Center to honor the communities youngest graduates. 1990 Graduates of Siletz Tribal Head Start were Jodie Darfirill, Kyanna fisher, Lynette Hibdon, Lacy Keene, Colby Lyons, Christina Rife, Fransisca Rilatos, Teala Rilatos, Melissa S trickle r, A ppalonia Thom pson, Katie Thompson, Joseph Towner, Jermaine Williams, M att W illia m s and M ack W ilso n . Undergraduates were Shatara Holmes, Scott Lane, Jacob Reid, Brandy Rife and Garrett Smith. The twenty preschoolers, wearing traditional red caps and gowns were escorted up the aisle by teacher, Ramona Fisher and assistant teacher/bus driver, Lei Lani Rilatos. Also escorting were Alissa Lane and Ronell Welch, Middle School classroom aides. Kathyrn "Tiny Jane" Rilatos was recognized for her 496 hours of volunteering in the classroom with the presentation of an eagle feather. Drummers Kitti Hostler, Louis Keene, Kevin Strickler and Selene Lynch provided the traditional Indian Honor Song. Head Start parents Valerie Hibdon, Coleen Rife, Steve Rife, Dan Rilatos and Kim Thompson worked diligently for many hours decorating the community center with balloons and streamers. A big "thank you" to parents and everyone who participated in the special evening and those who contributed numerous services or m aterials to the program throughout the year. SPRINGFIELD GRADUATES Submitted by Cheryl Ben NON I (NORMA) LUNDY: Daughter of Dan and Rita Lundy, Granddaughter of Everett and Jessie Lundy and the late M argaurette Lundy, G reat- Granddaughter of Mike Darcy and the late Maggie Darcy and Eva Morton. Noni graduated from Churchill High School in Eugene where' her extra curricular activities included Treble Choir I, II,& III, Women's Ensemble, scuba diving, and she works at Sacred Heart Hospital as a volunteer. She is planning a trip to Hawaii for graduation after which she plans to join the armed forces and persue a career in a health related occupation. CONGRATULATIONS NONII! KIM FISHER: Daughter of Chuck and Robbi Fisher. Kim graduated from Thurston High School in Springfield. Kim's activities included Varsity Softball, Varsity Swim Team (competing at the district level), School Choir and Volleyball. She is presently secretary of Future Business Leaders of America. She is currently employed by School District 19 as a warehouse clerk. She plans to attend Lane Community College in Eugene this fall persuing a career as a dental hygenist. CONGRATULATIONS KIMI! Head Start Graduation June 7, Mona Fisher at the podium. BROOK BIGELOW: D aughter of C heryl Ben and Granddaughter of Charles and Gladys Staggs. Brook graduated from Thurston High School in Springfield. Brook's activities were School Choir, Peer-tutoring Program, Church Choir and youth leader in her church. She was a Miss Siletz Representative for 1988/89. She plans to attend Lake Land College in Illinois this fall working toward a degree in Early Childhood Development.
