RAYMOND (ROCKY) HOINESS Greetings Tribal Members, My name is Marita Selene Lynch and I am proud to announce that I am running for Tribal Council. I am the daughter of Maxine Ben Rilatos and the fate Robert Rilatos Sr. My grandparents are Pearl Simmons Rilatos and Victoria Butler Ben and the late Archie Ben. I am married to Daniel Lynch and we have three children, Bobby, Rena and Samantha. I have served on the Head Start Parent Policy C ouncil, Pow-Wow Committee, and the Sacred Lands Committee. Presently I serve ori the Siletz Indian Housing Authority and have been on this board for the past 4 years. The experience^, that I've had while serving on the Housing Board have been many and I feel that it's given me a good taste of what Tribal Council would be like - if elected.1 I feel that I've been very objective in my decision making and I always think about the Tribe as a whole. Every need or concern that was ever brought to me was one that didn't go unheard or dealt with. Our 39 homes are one of our Tribe's valuable assets and should always be treated as such. Some goals that I would like to work on are: HEALTH - to set up programs to help tribal members outside the service area, health would be my first priority; HOUSING - to apply for housing rentals and to assist with the 15 mutual help homes to be built, to help meet more of the housing needs of our people; CULTURE - one of our most valuable resources is out Elders and the traditional values they nurture. Currently I am not working and could commit a lot of my time to Tribal Council duties if elected. I have my main support and that's my family, to me that is very important because it takes a lot of time and dedication to serve on; Tribal Council; I encourage you to vote - make yourself count - and I would appreciate your support! I was born and, for the most part, raised in the Siletz area. I am the son of Ray and Ila Hoiness. My grandparents were Roy and Mae Downey. My occupations are longshoring, commercial salmon fishing and logging. My main reason for running is my concern over our main resource, timber. It is my opinion, as well as many other Tribal Members, that this accellerated timber cut could undermine our Tribe's constitution, plus jeopardize any land acquisition. I've been to enough meetings to know that Congress wants the Siletz Tribe to show that we can manage ourown timber resource, not just contract everything out to non-tribal m e m b e rs. I b e lie v e w e sh o u ld get back to the original comprehensive plans: sustained yield policy. I also would like to see more funds available for cultural and other good programs that seem to be getting phased out. CHRISTENSEN Our Tribe is ten years old this time around. I have watched from the side lines for this ten years. I have enjoyed many benefits from our organization. I feel there is much more to have as a strong cohesive group. We need to compete in a white man's society for a living while trying to preserve our own culture. We need the efforts of all to do this. I want to have an active part in seeing our tribe become a true "Circle of Friendship". I would also like to help sort out our culture and help pass it on to younger tribal members. As father of eight and grandfather of twenty, I feel I have a vested interest in our Tribe and our »culture.
