FALL TERM HIGHER EDUCATION APPLICATIONS ARE NOW DUE: Applications will be rated on a first come basis within funding priorities. Please remember that only completed applications will be considered. A COMPLETED APPLICATION CONSISTS O F : 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Tribal Higher Education Grant Application; A copy of the official college needs analysis processed through the college scholarship service or other appropriate forms used to compute financial need, and any other necessary documentation from the appropriate financial aids officer indicating total budget identified resources and amount of unmet need; The most recent transcript; A letter from the applicant explaining his/her goals. Freedom of information form} Letter of acceptance from an institute of higher education for new students; Certificate of degree of Indian blood for new students. It is well to remember that the amount of higher education funds available will probably be less for fiscal.year 82. Mail all of the forms to the appropriate area office for students within the eight county service area. Students outside the eight county service area should mail their applications to the central office in Siletz. The appropriate tribal forms are available from the area offices and from the central office. EDUCATIONAL NEWS; TENA TUCKER, a student at A ’Art College of Beauty in Springfield will complete her training on July 15, 1981. Congratulations, Tena on a job well done!! BARBARA CARMICHAEL,? a student at ITT Technical Institute, Portland, was on the Dean’s list for Spring Term of 1981. Congratulations!! VIRGIL MARTIN, a student at Commercial Driver Training in Portland will complete and take his certification test on August 1. 1981. TRIBAL MEMBERS NEWS: The Alfred Lane Family held a surprise birthday party for Maude Lane who was celebrating her 80th birthday. The surprise birthday party was July 3rd at Pringle, Park in Salem, Oregon, over 100 guests attended which mainly consisted of family. Donna Woods and Alfred Lane Jr. traveled from San Diego for the occasion. Donna made the birthday cake which was decorated with 80 candles. Special guests from Siletz were Mary Alice Muncey, The Franklin Simmons Family, Art and Ruth Bensell.
