ENROLLMENT Enrollment is still going on, there is no closing date. I would like to take this time to quell any rumours about a closing date. We are still enrolling new members and if your children are not enrolled yet please let me know, so I can send you the necessary papers to fill out and any information you will need. You may also pick up enrollment applications at your nearest Tribal Area Office in Salem or Springfield. Applicants out of the 8 County area must be requested from our main Tribal Office here in Siletz from me, Shirley Strickler, Confederated Tribes of Siletz, P.0. Box 549, Siletz, OR 97380. Phone, 444-2532. To give you some idea of the time frame on enrolling applicants I have listed the following information: Applications received and researched by Enrollment Staff Certified letter sent to applicants recommending accept or reject by Enrollment Staff ’ Applications posted for 60 days in all three Area Offices and Tribal Office Applications taken to Tribal Council for their determination at their next regularly scheduled meeting following the 60 day posting * Certified letter sent to applicants by Enrollment Staff notifying them of the Tribal Council’s determination of acceptance or rejection of enrollment It is very important to us to have those certified letters picked up. So if you have sent applications in and receive a certified letter please pick it up. This is also why I need currant addresses on Tribal members. Changes of name. Your name cannot be changed on the roll unless I receive notification and a document verifying the change for whatever reason, (marriage, adoption, etc.). I hope this explains any questions you as Tribal members may have had about Enrollment, • why the process seems so long for example, (I really don't throw them in a drawer and forget them). I urge you to get your children enrolled soon, so our Tribe will be big ger and better. At present our Tribal Roll stands at around 1,510 members, lets try fort, 2,000.
