Ninety-two entries made this year's
Jamboree Parade the biggest ever.
With 79 adult and 13 Kiddie entrants
the streets of Vernonia were alive
with a profusion of sights, sounds and
colors Saturday morning as
thousands of locals and visitors lined
Bridge Street and Weed Ave. for a
look at the procession.
This year's winners in the various
parade categories were:

Everyone involved in this year's
parade, as contestants and as
organizers, would like to thank the
parade judges; Genny Olmstead, Carl
Poole and Janet Beattie for their
excellent job. A special thanks also to
those unsung heroes, the ‘Pooper-
Scoopers', Robert Shafer, Jr. and
Michael Shafer, Jr., who followed
along behind the horses keeping the
way clear for innocent by-standers.
ABOVE— This young lady is

horse in preparation for Saturday’s
Horse Games at Anderson Park.
Dozens of riders and their mounts
showed up for this fhvorite event.
BELOW— Scott Sword makes the
chips fly during his winning go at
the Unlimited Bucking contest.
Professional clown Paul Mackenzie,
of Vancouver, B.C., looks on, no
doubt glad it’s Scott and not himself
on the throttle of that saw.

First Place Winner-Antique Cars
STILL GOING STRONG— T.A. Schneider’s classic log truck stole the show in the Antique Cars class although
it needed a bit of help to get going. Jerry Sanders of Vernonia Control joined Schneider in the cab.
