Local TOPS members attend Recognition Days On June 1 and 2 eleven members of the local TOPS chapter attended State Recognition Days at the Sheraton Hotel in Portland. TOPS members from all over Oregon attended and honored their “Losers.” The theme of “Pretty as a Picture” was carried out in decorations, skits, workshops, chapter banners, nametags, scrapbooks, etc. There was .entertainment by the Portland Swedish Folk Dancers, and the City of Roses Pipe Band and a style show put on by the Historical Automobile Club of Oregon. Our chapter was in charge of the “Greatest Improvement” contest with Ilene Grady announcer and Vonney Gray as one of the contestants. Ruth Cadwallader was an entrant in the KOPS JCharm and Beauty” contest. She was ■also recognized as our Chapter Queen, and as a KOPS received her diploma during the beautiful and impressive graduation Ceremonies. Our' three KlM/s, Sue Willard, Debbie VonHeeder and Ilene Grady were among those recognized with Ilene being the KIW who had lost the' most weight. Everyone had a good time and are looking forward to attending SRD 1980 in Eugene next April. At a recent meeting awards for May were presented with Rosey Schnabel receiving the Monthly Best Loser trophy again this month for her 19% lb. loss. The chapter had a total net loss of 5672 pounds for the month. Division winners were: Division 3, Rosey Schnabel; Division 4, Tessie Aldrich; Division 5,, Debbie VonHeeder. During May, Debbie ■ . . VonHeeder reached goal and attained KIW status. Members receiving charms for 8 consecutive weeks of losses were Debbie VonHeeder, Ilene Grady, Sue Willard, Evelyn Krieger, Cindi Justice, and Ellen Moser. Yearly awards for 1978 were also presented at this time. The chapter had a 248 pound net loss for the year which was an average of 7.8 pounds per member. Division 2 winner was Vonney Gray (3272 lbs.), Division 4 first place was Jeannine Hall (4572 lbs.), second place, Linda Terry (17 lbs.) and third place was Katherine Zeck (12 lbs.). Necklaces were presented to Judy Budge and Jeannine Hall for having been Monthly Best Losers three times during the year. The Backslider’s award went to Judy Budge for her 2574 pound loss. Ruth Cadwallader was crowned as Chapter Queen for 1978. Weekly Best Loser honors for the week of June 7 went to new member Dixie Webber and for June 14 to new member Cindy Spreen.
