Ackley, district attor ney, at the annual convention of the Oregon State Bar held recent ly in Medford, has been appointed as a member of the D istrict Attorney's committee of that o r ganization. He has also been appointed as a member of the Activities Com mittee of the National Association of Prosecuting Attorneys. This organization represents the pro secuting attorneys of the United States whichnumber approximate ly four thousand five hundred. In commenting on his appoint ments Ackley said, "I greatly appreciate these two honors which I have received. But I am inclined to believe that I have received them because 1 am from Curry County. Each day Curry County attracts more and more attention in Oregon and other parts of the Nation. Abroad we are known as a progressive forward looking group of friendly and hospitable people. Each day more and more people are coming to Curry Count - y, and making this area their home. People are discovering that this area is a wonderful place in which to live. The program will b e gin at 8:15 p. m. Marsh is said to bring to his audiences electrifying perform ances of superlative degree. He has been a soloist with the B os ton Pops orchestra under Arthur Fiedler many times and he has earned a reputation envied by many the world over. The sensitive young m aster of the keyboard is a champion of modern music and contenpor- ary com posers, and has played first New York performances of piano works by David Broeknfan and Dr. Phillip Jam es. Ozan Marsh's avid interest in composing stem s from his stud ies with a number of o u t s t a n d ir g teachers and com posers in the field, including Nadia Boulanger. He has written sets of variations in the Horowitzian style to many of the Sousa Marches which he frequently performs on his r e cital programs and which have proven popular with a variety of audiences. The Brookings committee members for the Del Norte Com munity Concert Association are Mesdames C. E. Dempsey and L. G. Twohy. Association p r e si dent, Carl Kruger, would like members to note the change of location to the fairgrounds pavil - ion, where concerts will be held all season. The auditorium of thfCrescent-Elkschool is under going rehabilitation and will not be* utilized. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Holland left for their home in Weaver ville Monday after spending the weekend here at the home of Mrs. Holland's s i s te r , Mrs. Milton Foster. CONCERT PLAYER Ozan Marsh will be the f i r s t performer at the C o m m u n ity Concert Series at Crescent City. He will appear on October 22. NEW CIRCLE GROUP FORMED The Mabel & Martha Circle met at the home of Mrs. Geo. Mosier Tuesday evening. This is a new ly formed group of young women of the Baptist Community churcl who are able to meet in the ev e- ing. Mrs. Mosier is leader of the group.
