Closed Season
On Burning Near
A pril 1 m arks the beginning of
th e closed season on burning in
th e forested areas of the state
coming under the jurisdiction of
th e state and federal protective
organizations, according to a state-
m ent issued today by S tate For­
ester Dwight L. Phipps.
T his m eans th a t perm its m ust

or a ran g er if any slashings, brush
or debris is to be burned w ithin
the forested areas, Phipps added.
