M issionary Society of the Bap tist church will m eet on T h u rs day, Ja n u ary 17, at 10 a.m. for an all day m eeting to finish White Cross work. Sack lunches will be eaten and everyone interested will be welcome. Colonel and Mrs. M orris M iller arrived S aturday for a short visit w i’h the Colonel’s brother, Er skine Miller. They flew out from Wu.diington D. C. and left Sunday to Los Anegeles. This is their first visit to the West coast and ihought Brookings very nice. They w ere taken on a drive thru th e Redwoods and Stout Memor ial Redwood Grove and w ere much im pressed by our lovely peaches. T h ree big events are already in the planning stage, according to Ralph ‘'Pop" Reed, who is in charge of the drive this year. The festivities will sta rt off w ith a basketball game, te n tativ e ly scheduled for Sunday night, Ja n u a ry 20, w hen an am ateu r team , consisting of the Brookings- H arbor high school faculty w ill play against a talented aggrega tion from dow ntow n Brookings. Bud P isarek, form er Wisconsin great, will be captain for the town team as they play in th eir th ird annual outing. H eading up th e faculty will be player-coach Gene Allison, p rin ci pal, and big six foot seven inch Bob Duff. O ther details about the contest will ap p ear in next weeks issue of the Pilot. Second on the agenda will be the annual M arch of Dimes P arty at the Cliff House on S atu rd ay night, Ja n u a ry 26. Finally, th e Lions are planning a talen t show to be headed by Jo h n La Buono, fam ous TV star. The talent show will be on Ja n u ary 30 and local talent is needed desperately. All those interested in perform ing are asked to contact Pop Reed at the City Hall.
