spring, from now on will be te s t­
ed. The sudden change of tem p­
eratu res, going up to over 100 de­
grees, also involved a change in
hum idity. From now on th ere will
be fire w 'eather in Oregon. If the
forests do not b um if O regon’s
tim ber stays g re a t—it will be be­
cause:
1. Every person who goes into
the forest as cam per, fisherm an,
hiker and m ountain clim ber pours
w ate r on every cam pfire until
th ere isn't a tiny living em ber
left to hiss.
2. E very m otorist who trav els
a forest-bordered highway consi­
ders it a m isdem eanor to throw’
from the car a lighted m atch or
burning cigarette.
3. Every woodsw orker sees to
it th a t no stra y sp ark from his
cig arette or pow er saw gets a
chance to sta rt a fire.
4. Every logger "shuts down-’
his operation when the hum idity
reading gets in the neighborhood

responsibility is on the job night
and day.
6. The general public now fully
understands and fi/lly supports
