Lloyd and Fred Fox. who oper ated Pacific Parts, and Roy Pollard, who operated the Brook ings Auto Parts, will operate the new firm, Brookings Supply Inc. together. The truck parts at Pacific Parts is now in the process of being moved down to the Matot building, where the Brookings Auto Parts is now located. Both the other firms will be dissolved and the Brookings Supply Inc. will be the sole name. It is planned to equip the bus iness with a full line of auto mobile parts, with a stress on truck parts, such as bearings, gears, blocks and every thing the trucker needs. The new business is open now, although their complete line of stock hasn’t arrived as yet. Indian Marries Mrs. Ruby Huber Ruby Huber, well known in this area, married Harold F. Thornton, a 55-year-old Indian whose timber holdings figured in the 1951 Gold Beach land fraud cases- and who is now worth more than $500.000. Mrs. Huber, a widow with two daughters, o|>erated the Huber Meat Market, in the place where Jays Quality Meats is now lo cated. She gave up her business here a little more than a year ago. Forcing lilies coming from bulbs grown in the Watsonville area showed a very- high percentage of infection and up to ten peraent loss in lots from Humbolt County and also in Oregon. In some instances the officers are reported to have clamped holding orders on plants in pro cess. The inspectors have not as yet found a suspected field source of the disease and the pathol- igists think the origin may be found in the forcing houses, themselves. Azalea Festival Plans To Be M ade The Brooking»-Harbor Cham ber of Commerce is calling a meeting, scheduled for 8 p.m. tonight (Thursday) to discuss the Azalea Festival. It is hoped by tne directors that all those interested will attend the meet ing. A date must be set for the Festival, and plans made. ---------------------- Schools To Receive $28, ,000 As Gift Front O&C Money Superintendent of Schools, D. D. Williams announced that it is expected that Brookings-Harbor share of the O and C Timber Money, allocated last week by the County Court and the bud get committee in a supplement ary budget will amount to near the $28.(XX) mark. This money will be given the district out of a total of $78,000 provided t here Isn’t any objection in the suplementary budget hearing, scheduled for April 4th in Gold Beach. Williams said that it isn’t known exactly at this time what the money would be used for, although he admitted that there were plenty of places to spend it. The money will go into the capital outlay account. Now It is planned to build on two add itional classrooms in the balcony of the new high school gym, which would cut the seating capacity but the »eats were only used about six times this year, he reported. Another expense the school will have this year in the Capital outlay will be putting in side walks and paying for the school’s share of Pioneer and East Street paving. The local engineers re ported that this figure would amount to around $26,000. An increased school budget to take care of an increased student load will cost the tarpayers of this school district alxiut 280,000 dollars during this coming year, according to a new budget fig ures appearing this week in the Pilot. With increased estimated re ceipts at $143,888, the total est imated expenditures will run to 413,000 dollars. H ow ew r, the school's c u r a t ing budget will be $365,787, or $56,000 higher than last year. An added student load, and also higher salaries were the main reasons for the increase in the budget. About 60 percent of the in crease will go into salirie». Three additional teachers will be hired at an additional $13,500, and the present teachers will re ceive $19,500 more in salaries, accounting for $33,000 more than last year. Also an increase in capital outlay was announced which will provide funds for the purchase of a new school site, and also grounds. $3,500 was placed into a fund for the replacement of a school bus. And a larger amount a $6,500 increase was made in the emergency fund, to care for an unexpected increase in pupil enrollment. Superitendent of Schools. D. D.
