A Canal For Afghanistan . . .
EDITORS NO IE : A¡ter two hectic weeks of
people coming into the office with wrenches in hand,
and blood m their eye, this wcd(s editorial concerns
Afghanistan. However, it will be fust our luck to find
a lone Afghan lurking about, ready to take exception
and cry "insinuations of fraud."
What we would propose is a canal from the
Farah Rud to the Kundaz in Afghanistan. We believe
dial the National Assembly in that country should do
all within their power to accomplish this, with a view
of making a gigantic Oasis in the Afghanistan Desert.
Now, in this country bounded on the North by the
Southern desert of Western Turkestan, and the Amu
Darya, and on the south by Baluchistan, things are just
too dry for the corn crop.
After all 12000,000 Afghans can’t l>e wrong.
Anything that Curry (.,mnty can do in support of this
measure will be appro. ited by the Afghans.

We seemed to li ne raised something of a hue
and cry in our County s . t in a recent editorial. We didn't
accuse anylwxly of anything in the editorial. We merely
asked some questions. I hey were answered more or less
to our satisfaction .is they should be.
We as a newspip r- -or we .is citizens —certainly
have a right to ask qties ions—either in print or in any
other way. T'liat is a pi t of this thing called Democracy.
We don t believe the Court should accuse the
questioner of making “insinuations of fraud" any time
a question is asked eithe*, lest it discourage people from
attempting to learn tin m.uhmery of our government.
