Because of a tim e lag betw«’ n tu rn n g on the gas and getting a m atch fired up, F ra n k got his first ititia to n into the thing but didn’t damage ■ his h air though the illum ination w as brilliant. H eretofore, it took quite a spell to get the old wood range to perc olating up to Johnny cake baking, and E sth e r usually had a tim e in te rv a l of an hour or so. but not, she soon found out, w ith gas. Ib* oven beat the b a tte r to readiness. Then F ra n k a s s a y e d to get out a hatch of hot calc •• lit the gas. put the griddle on, w ent to stir up the sourdough b a tte r and when he cam e back the griddl ■ had a fine glow and a couple of hum ps like a B ach trian camel. The new’ in stiu m e n t, th e y ’ve found out, has one advantage and th at is wh'.’n associated w ith the Ja v a receptacle. Mrs. R uth B ath ian y and Mrs. Rose Poole sta rte d out. last w eek end, for a visit to L ake of the W oods and K la m a th Falls. Mrs. Poole just couldn’t stan d the heat >1 the valley and had to lay over and rest at M ‘dtord. going on to Lake of the W oods, next day.
