RETURN FROM provides that the owner or driver involved in an accident causing property damage or per sonal injuries in excess of Sioo. who lu s no in surance and regardless of fault, will he noti find by the Oregon Financial Responsibility Department that within ho «.lays the owner or driver of such vehicle must deposit cash secur- itv with the Secretary of State, or send to the Secretary of State a release showing that such driver or owner must file and maintain with the other party involved. The amount of de posit required will he based on estimates ob tained by evaluators from the Financial Re sponsibility Department. In addition, regard less of the amount involved in the accident, the drive ror owner must file and maintain with the Secretary of State evidence of financial responsibility for a jxeriocl of 5 years. In addition a reciprocity provision has been added which provides the same requirements and penalties when Oregon motorists are involved m accidents in other states having similar fin ancial responsibility iaws. Other changes are that it will now he necessary lor the un-insured motorist to post a maximum of $2,000 for property damage security instead of J 1,000 under the old law. In addition the require ments under future proots, which have here tofore been 5 10 bodily injury and Si,000 prop erty damage have been changed to 3 10-5 to conform with .ill insurance policies. The pur pose of the law is to increase the jx:rcentage of responsible motorists on the highways and to that degree lessen the pressure from the un compensated victims of irresponsible drivers. The Secretary of State, through the Financial Responsibility Department, is prepared to use the full capacity of his office, through new forms ami procedures to constantly acquaint all licensed motorists with the provisions and penalties of the new law. If you are not prop erly insured or if you are not in a position financially to meet the requirements of the new law, for your own protection see your nearest Oregon Automobile Insurance Repre sentative, which is up only 3 h its as he led his m ates to a 6-4 victory. “ Bud" H anson led the ings batsm en as he collected th re e hits on th re e trip s to th e plate, The only e x tr a base h its of th ? gam e cam e to W ard of Gold Beach and B em of Brookings as they both hit trip le s in the first inning o fth e five-inning gam e.
