LARGE CROWD AT VFW MEET The first contention to be held in the new High School Auditor ium took place, last Sunday, when representatives of ten VFW posta in Southwestern Oregpn held their semi-annual district meeting. A ll the visitors^ including the Oregon VFW Commander, Ronald Dicken, of Molaia, admir ed the facility and said Brookings should be proud of it. The m eeting began w ith a baked salmon d in n e r served by the local Ladies A uxiliary, w ith credit for its sincere appreciation going to Mrs. Paul W hirry and h e r com m ittee. A bout 150 guests w ere served. A fter the feed the Auxiliaries met in the VFW Hall, with Mrs. Lyle Dill, local unit president, turning the gavel over to Mrs. Frieda Lawrence, Ashland, re tir ing district president, who in turn i was succeeded by Mrs Edna Laf 1 ferty, Ashland, elected for the- next year, with Mrs. Roy Bolin, Brookings, named as Junior vice- president of the district, and Mrs D ill one of the district's three trustees.
