M echanical aids such as needle holders, ru b b er bands, tw is t’em s, plasticene, lead strip s and m any o th ers should be used to stab ilize the arran g e m e n t in th* container. T he finished a rra n g e m e n t alw ays has these m echanical aids w ell concealed. S IM P L IC IT Y should be the key note of any a rran g e m e n t. Use spiked flow ers o r foliage for line, tilled in w ith o th e r round-type flow ers keeping buds at top and outside, using open flow ers and d a rk e r colors a t c e n te r and a t c o n tain e r edge. The focal point of ail arra n g e m e n ts should be w here all lines m w t th a t is, w here th e v ertic al line of plant m a te ria l and th e horizontal line of the co n tain e r m eet. F oliage as well as an open flow er m ay c re a te a tran sitio n a l line, tying the tw o to g eth er. N ever let a flow er o r foliage rest on the edge of th e c o n ta in e r as th iy m ust he stan d in g by them selves. Always finish an a rra n g e m e n t on all sides A good flow er a rra n g e m e n t is three-dim ensional, having height, w idth and depth. Do not crow d flow ers into a co n tain e r know when to stop! T he garden club is sponsoring a plant sale this S a tu rd a y , A pril 24.
