McGinnis also (of Brookings w as announced the rst part of this week. K aren is la sophomore in Brookings High and Jack is leaving for the |sen ices Monday. Leslie Pullen returned S atur- jday, July 25, from a trip to Michi gan. where he attended medical I cadet training camp. He visited I relatives in W yoming and P o rt land before coming home. La- | vaughn Salmon, who also went to this camp, will re tu rn later. Mrs. R. A. Ritchey was taken | to the home of her sister, Mrs. Ray Berg, in Pacific Grove, Calif., by her husband and son. H ere the climate is b e tte r for her as she suffers from asthm a. The two youngest children, M arjorie and Lloyd, accom panied her. The date for their retu rn was not stated. Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Hall and two children Jim m y and Sheila of LeMars, la., visited the past week in the home of Mr. H all's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Hall on Easy street. Also in the L. W. M arch home at Sm ith River. Mrs. Linea Lucas and Miss Vi ola Lindm ark from W arren, Penn, were guests at the Beaver S tate Lodge for several days while vis iting their cousin Mrs. G ertrude Cole of H arbor. They enjoyed every m inute of their visit and hospitality a t Mrs. Cole’s lovely home, and only wished they could stay longer. Mrs. Cole has the most beautiful home and grounds it a ttra c ts so m any of our guests they are alw ays inquiring about the place with the circle drive and how beautiful and how much they admire it. Karen B arker, Jam K err and Tudith Phetteplace are staying he week at the John Eldridge place on G ardner Ridge. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hoffeldt, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Foster and Mr. and Mrs. M. S. B rainard and Ben Jones drove in to Big Elat, on the south fork of Sm ith River last Sunday. The road is pretty good excepting for a short stretch just beyond Cellar Spring, which can be negotiated with care. There is a New Jersey couple s ta tioned at Camp Six Lookout house whose opinions of what consti tutes a road do not co-incide with local folks. Mrs. Edna L. Kessler, Craig, Colo., is visiting her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kess ler, Gold Beach, for a three weeks period. She visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Kessler until last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Judson L. Bell are enjoying a vacation in California since July 1. From Gilroy, Calif, they went on a trip to Fort Bragg with his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Bell who have a sum m er home there and spent 10 delightful days. They report the Fort *Bragg clim ate being nuch like Brookings. T heir plans ’nclude visiting different p arts of C alifom ia before returning home o C arpenterville, here. Charley H assett arrived at the tome of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. ■rank H assett on Monday night from S eattle where he graduated rom the University of W ashing ton in June. He expects to go to Texas for some special instruc tion when assigned a job. Milton Potocnick suffered a se- ere cut over his lefi eye when he fell from load ng a truck of lum ber at South Coast Lum ber Co.. W ednesday morning. The cut required five stitches.
