HARBOR NEWS Parkers Enjoy The W inehuck W omen’s Club met a t the home of Mrs. Bessie Randall Thursday, Feb. 26. The usual pleasant afternoon was spent with a business m eeting and conversation. They especially enjoyed the interesting a rran g e m ents of beach wood of Mrs R an dall, and her many beautiful plants. Mrs. E arl Henry of Du rango, Colo., was a guest for the afternoon. Mrs. Raymond Wood and daughter returned to th eir home in Ocean Lake a fte r spending several days in this area, visiting at the Ed Kamph home. The Woods are form er well known residents of Brookings. Mrs. Annie Lucas is visiting for several weeks at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Myers and her family in Madras. Mrs, Myers underw ent a m ajor operation on Feb. 23, and is con valescing at the present time. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Lucas and daughter Helen took Mrs. Lucas to Eugene where she was met by the Myers family when she m ade the trip over. Mrs. John Peterson returned home Sunday from M yrtle Creek where she spent the weekend with her husband who spent several days in the hospital w ith an a t tack of pneumonia. Mr. Peterson is better, and was able to leave the hospital during the weekend. Pvt. Eugene Simpson is spend ing a few days at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E arl Sim p son. Eugene, who is in the Arms Security agency, has just com pleted his basic training at Fort Riley, Kansas, and m ust leave by air this p rid a y for Fort Bev ins, Mass., where he will receive more training. Mr. and Mrs. Milton G raham returned from San Diego the la t te r part of the week a fte r spend ing the w inter m onths there. Mrs. Blanche W ebster of Co quille has leased the Camel Rock Motel from Mr. and Mrs. L. D. McAdams and is now operating it under the name W ebster Court Mrs. H. J. Weigel enjoyed spending the weekend at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W ade Hen- derer and her family in Elkton. She accompanied the Clendenin family who continued on to Yon calla where they attended the dis trict basketball tournam ent. Mr. and Mrs. C hester Thom p son have returned from West- port, Wash., w here they spent several of the w inter months. Two local young men are ex pected back in the United S tates tor early release from the Army, the two being Sgt. C urtis Chap man, son of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Chapman, anu Pfc. Beverly Wil son. husband of Mrs. Susie \\ il- pinuiii iiiîïninnrân Trur ' Exended Trip Mr. and Mrs. Elm er P a rk e r and son, Earl, returned last week a fter a three m onths’ trip which covered 25 sta te s and Mexico. In Florida they enjoyed the w inter sunshine and w ere interested to See that the Everglades w ere now under cultivation. The P a rk ers felt that one main reason th at Florida has a great tourist trade is because they go out of their way to c a te r to the tourists. The trip through Mexico was most pleasant.
