W’ith so much talent to draw from the Azalea Singers, as a group or as soloists, not to mention her own lovely voice, the club is always assured of something outstand ing in the music deparem tnt. Those who planted bulbs last summex and fall or have estab lished gardens, are beginning to reap the rew ards of tehir ses sions on their knees last ¿ear. Bouquts of daffs, tulips and iris are m aking their appearances. Many of the members of several years have had the advantage of flower arrangem ent classes but some of us have not been so for tunate. O ur president, Mrs. E r skine Miller, urges th a t we s ta rt bringing arrangem ents to clubs for discussion. Personally, I’d ap preciate such help. Flow er a r ranging, I have decided, is an art and in my case, apparently one to be developed. I have started a scrapbook of pictures of a r rangem ents, but even by following explicit instructions, step by step my arrangem ents always seem to zig when they are supposed to zag! “Long spirals, curving grace fully" (the books says) usually lop disjointedly in my little flor al gems. So let’s have some a r rangem ents to discuss at the next meeting. Gay little nosegay corsages of begonia blooms and heather, were the happy lot of the girls who a t tended the Teen-age party, spon sored by the garden club last F ri day evening. The corsages were mad< by a group of ladies who gathered at Mrs. Lockland’s to celebrate the 16th birthday of Mrs. Mabel Stonehouse. Mrs. FOR Stonehouse is a c h a rter member of the garden club and was a c tive in i t s organization. H e r birthday being Feb. 29, rath e r cheats --- her out of the x custom . i vi i ary i > yearly celebrations, although most of the ladies present, ra th e r en vied her the privileg of announc ing it as her 16th. Don't Forget the Plant Sale— “We walk the world with quiet ness, For we are all akin, And those who love the soil will have Serenity within. Despair can never shake our faith As long as we have known The m iracles th at come to pass W henever seed is sown” — Margaret Chaplin Anderson. Pilot class ads pay George Langlois and Clifford Bannock have enlisted in th e I ’ S. Navy and soon will be leav ing for boot training.
