Port Orford By Dorothy Asdel Opening of hunting season saw several local hunters bringing in bucks, including Russell Forty, Otto Johnson, Ivan and Keith Young, Mrs. Carl Fountain and Frank M. Fulford. The best story of the hunt comes from John Marsh, who, after shooting at his buck across a canyon and nicking the ani mal’s foot, started to track him down. With little blood to fol low it was over an hour before he suddenly came upon the buck bedded down in a triangle of logs. A j ? Marsh walked toward him he was cornered less than 15 feet away. He started to charge Marsh who shot and be cause of the short distance miss ed his first shot. As the buck again charged Marsh, killed him. He says his hair is still stand ing on end from the harrowing cxf>eripnce and he hopes never to be in such a position again. Buck season in eastern Oregon lured several enthusiasts from here, including the .John O’Haras who accompanied their house guests Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lov ett nf El Monte, Calif. They are hunting with the S. A. Shearers of Keno. The Vic Horner family spent several days hunting in the east ern part of the state, as did Robert LaBar.
