Opening of hunting season saw
several local hunters bringing
in bucks, including Russell Forty,
Otto Johnson, Ivan and Keith
Young, Mrs. Carl Fountain and
Frank M. Fulford.
The best story of the hunt
comes from John Marsh, who,
after shooting at his buck across
a canyon and nicking the ani
mal’s foot, started to track him
down. With little blood to fol
low it was over an hour before
he suddenly came upon the buck
bedded down in a triangle of
logs. A j ? Marsh walked toward
him he was cornered less than
15 feet away. He started to
charge Marsh who shot and be
cause of the short distance miss
ed his first shot. As the buck
again charged Marsh, killed him.
He says his hair is still stand
ing on end from the harrowing
cxf>eripnce and he hopes never
to be in such a position again.
Buck season in eastern Oregon
lured several enthusiasts from
here, including the .John O’Haras
who accompanied their house
guests Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lov
ett nf El Monte, Calif. They are
hunting with the S. A. Shearers
of Keno.
The Vic Horner family spent
several days hunting in the east
ern part of the state, as did
Robert LaBar. Mrs. LaBar and
children visited her parents in
Dallas while her husband was
on the hunt.
Armed entry was made' during
