Many of us may still be alive when some of these same Boy Scouts will assume their rightful places of prominence in affairs. Those boys last week reported to their president what Boy Scouts had accomplished during the year of 1948. This record could have easily been the pride and joy of men—their own fathers, for the achievements were many and many. Boy Scouts of America is a democratic organization which almost alone teaches the true principles of the American way of life. These boys have learned in the practical way, the things which make life more enjoyable and liveable. Boys, also, have been taught to associate one with another in a natural way. Scouting has been in existence 39 years. Already the beginners in this movement have come into power in many ways more will follow’. Henceforth the rise of “former scouts” will be more marked. The twelve sacred scout laws which have been the rules of con duct for these boys, certainly will not be discarded easily when they become men and men of prominence. What part wyi Boy Scouts play in the cause of democracy? Go to any scout meeting, to any court of honor, or watch any boy scout in his daily conduct. You will see the answer in the way he performs those duties how daily he does “his good turn.” Boys Scouts’ place in democracy will always be at the head of every movement tor the right for betterment of mankind. It will be so because Boy Scouts are developed in leadership. Last week's recognition of the Boy Scouts is but a feeble effort on the part of society to place the principles of scouting where they rightfully belong tn the hands of the Acai leaders. Exodus 20:11. “On the fourth day of creation, the Lord created the sun and moon to rule the day and night. For six thousand years these orbs of heaven have ruled over, and regulated the 2 4-hour period, called day and night. This 24- hour period God used in creation is the same measurement of time we use to day. Seven 24-hour __ days constitute the consecutive literal week. These tow definite time markers w’ere ordained by God himself at creation to con tinue as long as time should en dure. Read carefully Genesis the first chapter. Question: What did the Lord do on the seventh day of crea tion week? Answer: “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host .of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made: and he rested on the seventh day from all his work he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his works which God created and made.— Genesis 2:1-3.
