Portland is associated with the Rose Festival; Cheyenne. Wyo.. for the annual stampedes, and so on. Brookings has th a t to look forw ard to, if local people put effort into this event. It will take work, plenty of work, some joy and perhaps m any disappointments, before the world will finally know all about the azaleas, especially if people are to associate th a t nam e with this imm ediate area. It will take money to accomplish this feat—and to earn this money will tak e effort—plenty of effort. Shortly, perhaps in the next month or six weeks, m em bers of the Azalea Festival Association may call on m any business estab lishm ents oî the a re a —perhaps a suggestion will be m ade for beau tifying the main street, it m ay be a request th at a flower box, or a shrub be planted at a spot w here the whole picture could be m ade one ot beauty instead of one which has no appeal. In order, fully to realize the benefits which the annual Azalea Festival can be to the community, the entire com m unity m ust, by all means, give absolute and whole-hearted support to the venture.
