KEL-TOP RANCHO gold rush in the early days of the west. Residents of this area, in order to live up to the fa ith displayed1 in the community, must perform many duties to hold this faith. So much development ts necessary -and th a t soon. Openings are begging for many businesses, such as a s tric tly mens store ca rryin g »hneS. work clothes, suits and the like. Anyone having friends in this business could do much fo r themselves, as w ell as the community, by in v itin g these fnends to locate here. A laundry and dry-cleaning establishment w ould pay handsome 1 I 1 returns on the investment. An autom obile agency, once cars are available, has a bright fu tu re here. Such could be said of any num ber of businesses which would not exactly compete w ith existing ones now try in g to serve the area, as best they can, under restricted purchasing they now face Cine Mtor/t Commences People encouraging such businesses to come to this area should point out to these people that they should co n tribute som ething to the com m unity not to come here w ith the idea th a t this is a bonanza •s| —• place where they can run a business fo r excess profits. O ther resources which need exploiting in this county are: d a iry ing, lumber, m ineral deposits, and tru c k gardening. W ith prospects of a com m unity of 10.000 in a couple of years, local industry must be developed in proportion to the in flu x of settlers— if not so, then the future of the area would not balance, and subject to decay. Through this channel you could be of great help to the local chamber of commerce, by giving of your tim e, and the $l-a-m onth dues which you would pay tow ard the w o rk th a t is so necessary fo r development of this area. We have our planer shed ¡oofed, and R. D. R o w le f. of Smith River, who will over see the planing, has had the planer dis mantled, repairing it in readiness for the work which we hope to be doing shortly. We hope to have something definite to report next week. 1 Approximately 150 easement blanks are in the hands of prop erty owners and have not been turned in. The Coos Electric Co operative has sent Earl Saun ders to Brookings - Harbor to stake out the power line right- of-way, and he will only stake out lines where the necessary easements have been signed. It is now directly up to the in dividual property owners to sign their easements and return them to this office. This is the actual beginning of the expansion program and it will progress just as rapidly as availability of materials per mits us to build. It is our hope that easements and materials keep coming, so we will not be forced to stop un til the job is completed. Locally, We Represent: Johns-M Annville Co.
