L O W 4 6 Cold weather is right around the corner, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to ignore your garden. Here are a few fruit and veggie-oriented events to inspire gardening in the colder months. From 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, Sept. 23, the Lane County Master Gardener Association Fall Festival is taking place. The event includes classes on food preservation techniques, growing fruit trees and fermentation. There will also be a bake sale, book sale and plant sale as well as a plethora of local vendors to check out and kids’ activi- ties. The festival takes place at the River Road Park and Recreation Center (1400 Lake Drive) It’s FREE. Another option to check out local fall food is the Fall Harvest Food Fest. It’s a community fundraising event put on by Junction City Local Aid (JCLA) and will feature food and drink from local businesses as well as a chance to tour JCLA’s pantry and warehouse and learn about direct assistance in the form of food. That event takes place from 1-4 pm at the JCLA service building (210 E. 6th Avenue, Junction City.)
