CALENDAR The Eugene/Springfi eld Pride Festival boasts quite the celebrity guest list this year: Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy, Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian and Brett Bigham, the 2014 Oregon Teacher of the Year and fi rst LGBTQ teacher to win that title. Festival marketing coordinator Paul Homan says his personal favorite moment of last year’s festival was when Springfi eld Mayor Christine Lundberg signed the Oregon United for Marriage petition after giving a speech about making Springfi eld an accepting place for the LGBTQ community. “It really shows how much people believe in the celebration and in equality, having leaders like her speak,” Homan says.
