Halls, like Jeffrey Kahane, is one of the several possible sucessors to Helmuth Rilling; if you love the Bach Festival, you must see what both men do with the orchestra and chorus this year so you can understand the future. Even if you’re unfamiliar with a certain cantata, it’s well worth the money and time to get to Beall Hall on the UO campus so that you can see and hear the magic of thought, intention and skill melded into one casual but brilliant afternoon.
