Reception set Saturday to honor couple on 50th anniversary The children of Clarence and Uiis Bennett w ill host a reception to celebrate their parents’ 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Nov 23 from 2 to 5 p m at the Sandy Baptist Church, 33495 S.E. Jarl Rd , Boring The Bennetts were married at the home of Rev. Alonzo Calder on Com pton Road in the Boring area on Nov. 23, 1935 They have lived in the Sandy area for 33 years and in the Boring area, where they presently reside, for 19 years They are the parents of two sons, Glenn of Sandy and B ill of Boring They have four grandchildren The last school Clarence attended was the one-room Marmot Grade School He then worked at the Sandy Lumber Company on what is now Sleepy Hollow Road During the depression era, he worked for the Sandy Creamery, driving a truck and picking up cream from farmers When they were married, he was working at the Sandy Market, which was owned by Al and Ruben Hoff man. He drove a delivery route to Government Camp and a CCC camp at Simnasho on the Warm Springs In dian Reservation He has worked for the state Highway Department in Sandy, and during World War II he worked at the shipyards He then worked for the In- inan Polson Sawmill in Portland. Following that he has had his own business, a sawmill in the Sivlerton area where he cut maple and alder In 1948 he and Henry Whitlock form ed a partnership, B & W lagging Co., which was a logging and sawm ill operation They disbanded the com pany in I960 He worked at Koch Lumber Co. for some time, and drove a bus route for Sandy High School until he retired in 1975 Since then he had had his own business making grade stakes for surveyors in the area Ians attended Orient Grade School and Gresham High School. She has done bookkeeping most of her life. She worked at Clackamas County Bank full time for 28 years and part time for 10 years before that She also kept books for her hus band’s businesses, and now for the farm in Boring. Since retiring in 1980 she has kept busy at home. They have been active in the Sandy Baptist Church since its beginning in 1946 Lois was pianist and organist for 38 years, and also served as treasurer for many years There w ill be a money tree at the open house H ill Paul and Dorothy Beck of Sandy w ill celebrate their 50th wedding an niversary on Saturday. Nov. 23. A reception in their honor w ill be held at the Sheraton Inn-Portland A irport The reception w ill be hosted by their children: Gary of Corvallis, Sharon Morgan of Portland, Janice Craig of Sandy, Beth West of Milwaukie, and Paula Beck and Dan ny Beck of Portland The Becks were married in Van couver, Wash., and have spent their lives in the Portland area M r Beck, a native Oregonian, retired from T ri- Met in 1977 after 35 years of service with the transit company Mrs Beck, a homemaker, has not yet retired Attending the reception w ill be friends and fam ily including all six children, 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
