Bom Sept 23, 1801 in Sweden, her fam ily moved to the United States when she was J. They lived in M in n e s o ta and South Dakota until she was 12 w hen th e y m o ved to Canada where she com pleted her education She m a r r ie d W ilb e r "B ill'* Foster in Saskat chewan. Canada, on Dec 22. 1920 They moved to Washington in 1926 While ra is in g t h e ir tw o daughters. M rs Foster also worked in nursing In 1943 the Fosters mov ed to Oregon, settling in Portland where she worked in the ship yards during World W ar I I They moved to Sandy in 1952 where they helped originate and build the San dy A s s e m b ly of God Church She was active in all church activities She is survived by her husband, two daughters. M r Keest married Henrietta DeJong Oct 10. 1916 in Oskaloosa. Io w a. T h e y m oved to Longview. Wash . in 1931 and then to the Sandy area in 1932 where they had resided since M r Keest was employed at various odd jobs through his life. He was a minister of Jehovah’s Witness since 1938, and was an elder of the Sandy congregation. Survivors include his wife, Henrietta of Sandy; e ig h t c h ild r e n , N e llie Wilder of Stayton, Evelyn M an n in g and F ra n c e s Pedersen, both of Portland. Norman Rutherford At his request, no funeral services w ill be held for Norman W Rutherford of Sandy. He died Monday at the age of 70. A lifelong truck driver, he retired in 1977 He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. Ruther ford, seven step-children, and 10 step-granchildren. Itone o j oa by DAN D ILLO N For the past month and a half while fellow students settled into their desks to begin another school day, 13 m e m b e rs of th e a g r ic u ltu r a l m echanics class at Sandy High School have braved the rain and mud to build a barn. The barn, at the Steve Gesdahl farm on 362nd Avenue, is the seventh that teacher Les Geren has overseen in his 10 years at the school " I t ’s a super learning ex perience,” he said. "T h a t’s what I think; that's why I do it.” Building the 24- by 48-foo‘ s tru c tu re g iv e s th “ students an opportunity to employ some of the prac tices they study in the general farm shop class, which also includes wiring, arc welding and small im plement maintenance. "Each kid draws up his own plar. and his own bill of materials, ” Geren explain ed, before they begin con struction Gesdahl bought all the m aterials for $2,300 and "the kids get experience only,” he said "There isn’t one of them who has built a barn before.” Geren said a commercial outfit could probably build the same structure in two working days with a crew of three or four, but they would have access to more sophisticated m achinery for the construction such as cranes for placing trusses “ We do all our work from la d d e r s ,” the te a c h e r pointed out.
